MiDiccio: Add Many Words at Once
MiDiccio v1.4.8 lets you add many words at once. Turn the list of words you want to learn into a JSON file with an AI tool or similar, load it, and they’re all added without typing each one.
How to use it
Section titled “How to use it”- Ask an AI tool or similar to turn your list of words into a JSON file in the format below.
- In Settings, open Restore from Backup and select the file.
- Choose Merge to load it.
{ "version": "1.0", "entries": [ { "term": "serendipity", "reading": "ser-uhn-dip-i-tee", "meaning": "Finding something good without looking for it", "note": "Coined by Horace Walpole", "tags": ["vocabulary"] } ]}- Every field except
termcan be left out. - Leave out
idand let the app assign it. - This example is also in the app’s Help. You can copy it with one tap and paste it straight into your request to the AI.
Help now opens from the “?” button at the top right of Settings.
Developer notes
Section titled “Developer notes”Bulk import reuses the existing backup restore. There’s no new screen; the import rules are just a little more relaxed.
- Until now, every entry needed an
idand acreatedAt(creation time) - In v1.4.8, an entry without an
idgets a new ID, and an entry withoutcreatedAtgets the import time
The app assigns the id to prevent overwrites. When an AI writes the id, it tends to use sequential numbers like 1 and 2. Merge overwrites words with the same id, so a clash with an existing word would replace it. Loading the same file twice adds the words again as separate entries.
This fill-in only happens when importing a backup. When reading data from the cloud during sync, id and createdAt are still required.
